Calls for Artists
Call for Auditions For “Wake Up to Healing Arts: Using Performance & Media for Direction, Hope, Health, & Total Well-being”
Seeking actors for various roles in the “Healing Arts” Project.
Background. “Wake Up to Healing Arts: Using Performance and Media for Direction, Hope, Health, Wellness and Total Well-being” is a performance, media and educational series designed to address mental health issues which have a significant impact on the African American community, with an emphasis on mental health challenges.
The Pandemic has caused increased awareness and manifestation of problems resulting from such life issues as illness, isolation, loss of income, family, friends, and other major losses, resulting in mental health problems which need to be addressed and solved in non-clinical ways.
Project. One component of the “Wake Up to Healing Arts” project is a staged reading of four short scripts by Cleveland-area playwrights – “Can There Be Justice For TJ?” by Evonne Fields-Gould, “Recrowning King” by Ife-Gail Young, “That Guy” by Peter Anthony Fields, and “Writing Was My Muse” by Rosalind Royce. Each play will receive three – four rehearsals. The plays will all be read as a single recorded event for virtual distribution.
Rehearsal & performance schedule to be announced, later.
From the Director: I have created sides from the scripts for auditions. I think it is useful for actors to prepare something from the actual work we are developing.
The sides include:
Female - For female identifying actors of all ages.
Male 1 - For male identifying actors ages 15 - 25.
Male 2 - For male identifying actors ages 25+.
Girl / Boy - For young folks (14 and younger).
See & select the sides from the plays and playwrights you’d like to perform.
1. Select Character breakdown each play
2. Read Sides for each character you’d like to portray
3. Submit video audition and professional headshot to wualstudio@gmail.com, by Sat. 3/12/22.
4. Stipend.
